Ko Muk & The Gecko

Greg and I arrived in Ko Muk yesterday.  We’re staying at wonderful place here called Ko Muk resort (they dont like to get too creative with names here in Thailand).  It has lovely landscaped grounds, free boat rides, and puppies!  the puppies are very versatile – you can take one to beach with you to play, use it during dinner to keep your lap warm, or if you prefer your bed to have fleas and smell like dead fish, you can take it back to your room with you!

The Gecko

Soon after getting to our room yesterday Greg screamed like a girl and leapt onto the bed because there was a gigantic gecko on the ceiling.  I felt that this was worth sharing with you all.  I tried to chase it out of the room because Greg was so afraid but it disappeared into the walls or something.  Greg also made me pull the beds away from the walls because he was afraid it would crawl on him at night.  Poor guy!  It was a really big gecko.  But big geckos do eat a lot of mosquitos that might otherwise bite you :-).

  1. You go Greg! Geckos are creepy! Screaming like a little girl is the only sane response to spotting one.

  2. Does the Gecko talk? My only interaction with Geckos has been from insurance tv ads…that Gecko is cool as can be, I definitely wouldn’t try to kick him out of my room. But if your worried that a talking lizard might get in way of your privacy, maybe you can teach one of the puppies to chase Geckos which would be both entertaining as well as an extremely useful gift to future guests.

  3. Do you have a picture of that Gecko? Better, do you have a movie of Greg’s screaming like a little girl? We’d appreciate either 🙂

  4. Greg sure is a good sport about all this teasing! He’s not even ahead in the Scrabble games! Come on Martinez — suck it up and go for the burn! -Roger 🙂

  5. Yes, Greg is a good sport and to his credit this gecko was huge (a good foot head to tail) and I’m prolly the wierd one for not being afraid of it. I DO have a photo which I will post later today! Unfortunately, there is no video but maybe we will film a ‘dramatic re-enactment’ of the incident at a later date.

  6. Hey Greg, looks like you picked the wrong year to leave your Aggies behind. You might need to come back for the Final Four.

  7. #8 Texas A&M 69
    #6 Kansas 66

A&M goes on a 17-4 run to end the game, beats the Jayhawks for the first time in Aggie history (at Kansas no less) and takes over sole possession of first place in the Big 12.

  8. They are only doing well because I am away. I am sure next year we will be undefeated in college football as well. I am doing it for my team. They specifically asked me to leave the country so they have a chance.

  9. Hey kids,
Jen is on her way, took her to the airport this morning. If I’d read your blog before she left I would have sent you some books and peanut butter. Maybe even some bread. She only has a daypack so I could have sent you 50 lbs. x 2 worth of stuff. Oh, well.

Mabes, Lu, Bess & Shawn say “hi”.
