Adventures in Asia

The Sea Creatures

Francie and I started our Mandarin classes today.  I don’t know if I learned any Mandarin but I did learn that Mandarin class is hard and we have to get up at 8am.  This sucks because we won’t get out to play as much–but Tuesday we did get to go to Ocean Park and see the sea creatures.

Ocean park is spread out over a lot of land so you take a cable car up to the top of the hill.  There is an amazing view as you go up.

My absolute favorite Ocean Park sea creatures were the jellyfish.  They had lots of different types of jellyfish and the exhibit area was very cool (These pictures are boring only if you are color blind 😉 ).

There was also this cute baby sea turtle that said “Whoa, jellies”

Ocean park also had dolphins (and a baby, 2 month old, dolphin that was swimming oh so close to its mother).  We hung out and watched it at ‘Dolphin U’ but the only good picture I could get was this guy training the older dolphins to spin around and stuff.  It reminds me of that Far Side cartoon where the dolphins are calling the scientists names in Spanish

There was also a pretty good bird show with lots of parrots.

Tonight we are going to meet Brendan’s friend Adriana for dinner.  I think our next field trip will be here where I am going to win some BIG MONEY!

  1. Uh…you went UP to tht top of a hill for the OCEAN park? That is odd…an ocean on top of a mountain. Hmm…and parrots at ocean world?
HK is a strange place indeed.

  2. Do they project colored light on the jellyfish, or are those creature actually phosphorescent pink?

  3. They used special lights and black lights to get them to glow like that but I think that some of it was just similar to sunlight etc. They also played great classical music in the rooms and so it was overall just a good presentation that made for some great pictures. I think the purple ones had a black light nearby.

  4. I thought the jelly fish were awesome. You two are having too much fun. Getting back to normal will be a challenge.
